The Glenrowan Affair: 1951
Description |
The saga of Ned Kelly and his gang must be one of the most told and most treasured Australian stories. This version was shot around Benalla in Victoria in the early 1950s. It is fascinating to watch the development of Australian cinematic techniques and story-telling by comparing The Glenrowan Affair with the much earlier silent films depicted on the video compilation Bail Up (also available from ScreenSound) and more recent releases of the story. Charles ‘Bud’ Tingwell is your narrator. DVD extras include a picture gallery and a rare 1933 interview with a man claiming to be the real Dan Kelly. |
